On February 2, 1900 Savrola: A Tale of the Revolution in Laurania, the only novel written by Winston Churchill, was published by Longmans. He wrote the novel in 1897 and 1898. As Churchill bibliographer Ronald Cohen points out: He called it “far and away the best thing that I have ever done.” Only later did he become more self-deprecating and remark about Savrola that, “I have consistently urged my friends to abstain from reading it.”
