Epping recently honored Winston Churchill with the unveiling of a new blue plaque in Epping High Street. Churchill was the member of parliament for Epping from 1924 to 1945, winning election in 1924, 1929, 1931, and 1935. At the 1945 election, with the boundary adjustments Churchill stood for the Woodford Constituency which he represented until the end of his parliamentary career. An article on the plaque is available here.

Another recent article on Churchill was in the Craven Herald & Pioneer. The article recounts the connection of the market town of Skipton in North Yorkshire with Winston Churchill. Although there is no record of Churchill ever visiting, Skipton can claim a connection as it was the birthplace of Lord Moran, the prime minister’s physician for the last decades of his life. The article also describes the reaction in Skipton to the news of Churchill’s passing in 1965. The article is available here.
