The Down Street Tube station in Mayfair, which was used by Winston Churchill as a bunker, will be open to the public commencing on April 20th. The station, which was only an operating tube stop from 1907 to 1932, was useful as a bunker as it was a deep station and close to Whitehall. Churchill spent 40 nights at the station during the Blitz in 1940. Tours of the station will be operated by the London Transport Museum. Reports on the station are available from the BBC News and Sky News.
