The BBC’s Owen Amos investigates the widely-accepted story that Prime Minister Winston Churchill made a room in London’s Claridge’s Hotel temporarily part of Yugoslavia so that a prince could be born on Yugoslavian territory. The birth was that of Crown Prince Alexander who was born in the hotel on July 17, 1945. Amos finds, however, that there is no documentary evidence to support the story. The report from BBC News is available here.
