The 75th anniversary of the meeting of Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt, which took place in Placentia Bay, Newfoundland, will be marked in August in the province. Events will include a symposium at Memorial University, featuring presentations by Peter Russell (University of Toronto), Bob Rae (former premier of Ontario), Chris Parkes (London School of Economics), and Lucien Ashworth (Memorial University). There will also be an opportunity to visit Joe’s Cove were Churchill came ashore for about an hour on August 10th and picked a collection of pink wild flowers.
