The Significance of Churchill’s Zurich Speech, 1946 – 2016, a one day conference to be held on September 19, 2016 at the University of Zurich, will mark the 70th anniversary of Winston Churchill’s speech in that city in which he proposed “a kind of United States of Europe.”  The conference sessions will consider the themes of “Churchill’s Zurich Speech: The Context,” “The Significance of the Zurich Speech,” and “The Relevance of the Zurich Speech in 2016” with the speakers including David Reynolds, Allen Packwood, and Andrew Roberts. Johann Schneider-Amman, President of the Swiss Confederation, and Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Union Commission, will speak at the conference.
